Haute and Out

Spring Edition

The cold weather is slowly melting away, the sun is showing itself more through the clouds daily.  Don’t be that girl still bundled up in her puffy winter jackets and UGG boots [which are already a big NO NO in winter].  Need some help?  Look no further.

NOTE: If there’s any red, it’s Janine. If there’s any blue, it’s Juju.

Haute:

Things that are in, fashionable, and great for the current season

  1.  Scarves. Yes, these are still great for spring.  The weather is still somewhat chilly and these are a great alternative for warmth versus resorting back to your winter jackets.  Also, they are great to add color and/or pattern to a originally simple outfit, like a white V-neck with jeans.  Here are some links to really cute and spring appropriate scarves: Urban ~ Cotton On ~ Anthropoligie

  2. Pastels.
  3. Layering.
  4. Glowing Makeup.  I know, this was “in” for winter, and yes, it is “in” for spring.   These past two years, healthy, dewy skin has taken over the beauty world.  Yes, its not “fashionable” to look so matte I could have cut you out of a book.  It all about channeling you glow.  Angel face, girles, angel faces!  Try some shimmery light colored eyeshadow in the inner corner and in the arch of the brow (MAC Shroom), winged black eyeliner (Dollywink Liquid Liner) , mascara (Clinique High Impact Macara), a nice glowy highlight (Benefit 10 Boxed Powder), and pop a nice bright lip color like red or fuchsia (Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart) that has shimmer.

  5. Magnetic Nail Polish. Get with the program, girl, this is what it’s all about. Your last-season crackle nails have nothing on me, girlfriend. LOLZ x] Magnetic nail polishes are so on-trend right now, and not completely mainstream yet (like crackle), so I’d splurge and snatch a bottle of Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish. You will be the trend-setting bombshell with “The Nails”! 😛
With love and tips and the want to make everyone “It-Girls”, Janine.

Out:

Things that are unacceptable for the season.  If you are wearing this now, look above so you can change ASAP!  ALL IN ALL, THESE ARE NOT ATTRACTIVE LADIES

  1.  Neon Colors.  Do not be the the wearing neon green socks and a neon pink shirt.  Make your face glow, not your wardrobe.  It’s not attractive when it looks like you stuck a fluorescent light under your shirt.  Really, don’t do it.  I don’t want to wear sun glasses on a foggy day just because of your glowing orange clothing piece.  DON’T GO TO SCHOOL LOOKING LIKE A HIGHLIGHTER DARLINGS.
    With love and advice, Juju∞.
  2. Color Blocking.  This is just getting WAY too old and overused.  I swear if I see another person wearing orange and green at the same time I’m going to throw something that is in my hand.  Please don’t make me go to jail.  White with pops of green OR orange is much more appealing to the eyes.
    With love and advice, Juju∞.
  3. Heavy Makeup.  It’s springtime, girles!  The sun is shining and everything is fresh feeling, let’s have your face feeling fresh as well!  This means NO heavy foundation, NO heavy blush or bronzer, NO heavy-handed us of lipstick, and NO intense sharp liner.  Instead, opt of tinted moisturizer with concealer, a light cheek stain to give you some color, some tinted lip balm for a healthy shine with some sheer color, and smudged out liner on the upper lash liner.  TAH-DA, you got yourself a simple, easy makeup look perfect for everyday!
    With love and advice, Juju∞.

Forever Out:

These things are out. Forever.

IF YOU ARE SPORTING ANY OF THESE FAUX-PASES, you…YOU MUST CHANGE NOW.

Here we go!

  1. UGGs. THEY ARE AWFUL and make you look like you have elephant feet. You might be thinking “Oh, I’m so hawwwt, I’m so freakin’ HAWTT”, but you just look like an idiot. No offense. Unless, of course, you live somewhere cold enough to justify the fact that you are wearing about 2 sheep on your feet. Otherwise, the only reason I can come up with as an excuse to wear UGGs are to repel men. With love and frustration and the want to prevent others from becoming old maids, Janine.

  2. Crackle Nail Polish. At this point in time, I honestly do not know why people still where this “on-trend” style. It’s so UGH, OVERUSED, and BLAH. If used on all of your nails, it looks cheap and trashy. If you ABSOLUTELY MUST, use it on AT MOST one nail per hand. Otherwise, I seriously might come at you with a cotton ball and some nail polish remover. If you need any help to find nail polish that IS on-trend and the new “it-thing”, go to the Haute&Out page here. With love and frustration and the want to prevent others from being attacked with nail polish remover, Janine.

  3. The “Orange-Smurf” Look. This is what I call people with WAYYY too much bronzer. If you have too much bronzer on, you tend to look like a walking carrot, so girls, if any of you have a bit too much love for your brown beauty…calm down. Please. Or your bronzer will need to be confiscated. And Ju and I will find some use for it. In the garbage. With love and frustration and the want to prevent others from looking like vegetables with legs, Janine.

  4. Socks with Sandals. No, just… no. Some things just can’t be unseen. No matter how cold it is, DO NOT WEAR SOCKS WITH SANDALS! Just don’t wear sandals then! I’m sure you girls don’t do this, as you all have SOME SORT of fashion sense…but wow…some people just don’t get that it’s unattractive. With love and frustration and the want to prevent others from becoming a fashion crime, Janine.

That’s all we have to rant about for now, but we’ll add more as we go on!

  1. Omg! You area totally right girly! I need to change my clothes and go get some new clothes. I have a question could you please tell what stores give the winter trends for 2011 or what trends have been going on around the winter season? I have all of my summer clothes, and barely have any winter clothes. And what should I look for in the winter?

    Thanks!
    Miss A ^^.

  2. Lauren I.

    Agreed on most all!
Except, color blocking has been in an awfully long time so I’m pretty much sick of it.
    Love you!

  3. Hey girls!
I loved this long, wonderfully detailed In and Out page!
I will say, though, I love my Uggs! The way to avoid the “elephant feet” issue with them is to buy Cardi-Uggs, Ugg sneakers, or styles that make your feet look smaller. They do exist, trust me 😉 .
Let’s not get violent, but I completely agree on shatter polish. So last summer, right? Magnetic nail polish came out in July but few knew of its existence until September. Then Sephora started carrying it around October and now the people “in the know” such as we on WordPress know about it/ have it. Therefore, I’d agree. Totally not mainstream.
    Love you guys!

    Lauren(:
